Eco-sustainable packaging

Australia strengthens packaging standards with new national laws, stating that by 2025 all packaging within Australia will be designed safely in accordance with the circular economy. All packaging will have a purpose and not be discarded as waste with the new eco sustainability framework. We are currently in the transition stage while adopting new eco-friendly options.

Businesses within Australia need to keep costs down, while still maintaining revenue growth so there needs to be the option for cheaper readily made materials that foster the idea of a smooth transition to biodegradable materials.

Currently we have options within Australia for this type of packaging and it is important to understand the options available so Australians can maintain a relationship within our own country whilst developing the new legislation and still keeping costs down for everyone.

Manufacturers and suppliers of consumer goods continue to innovate new ways to improve circularity particularly focusing on recycled content such as post-consumer resin, these innovations come about as we seek to deliver on the new sustainability commitments, consumer expectations, and new packaging regulations.

As a result, new regulation governing sustainability of packaging differs and is no longer confined to select countries or regions and is more of a global standard. What consumers are concerned about in regard to environmental impact differs depending on region, different countries have different ideas about sustainable materials and how they may adopt these new changes to the consumer public however consumer perceptions are starting to align around the world in regard to compostable solutions.

I guess the question we should be asking is,

What packaging substrate is seen as the most sustainable by consumers.
